Fall is here and what a better way to celebrate than with a succulent pumpkin! This project is such an easy way to create a unique arrangement perfect as a table centerpiece or for your porch. With a few simple items, you can create this perfect piece to celebrate fall. I taught a class on how to make these arrangements at Cheekwood and it was such a fun time and an easy project that anyone can do.
Materials Needed:
- Pumpkin (Cinderella style)
- Spray Adhesive
- Sphagnum Moss
- Hot Glue gun and glue sticks
- Gloves (don’t want to mess with the farina!)
- Variety of small succulent cuttings (Etsy is a great place to get these)
Step 1
If there is a stem, clip it off
Coat top of pumpkin with spray adhesive
Step 2
Before the adhesive dries press dry moss onto the top of the pumpkin, creating about a ½ inch thick layer
Step 3
Attach succulents
Put a little bit of hot glue on the succulent and attach to the moss
Step 4
Admire your arrangement!
Succulent Pumpkin Arrangement Care
Watering
Aerial roots will begin to appear wanting water, SPARINGLY spray the moss with water to allow the plants to get water
Sunlight
Bright, indirect sunlight
Repotting
Succulents won’t want to live in the moss forever so once the arrangement is past its prime, remove the plants from the moss and plant them in cactus soil to keep enjoying them!
